Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit this website, listen to JJ Dispatches or contact us, and what choices you have. We keep it to a minimum: there is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking on this website.
Who is responsible
JJ Dispatches is run by its hosts, Jan Rohweder and Jon Cannon. Until the operator details below are confirmed, they are the people responsible for this website.
Operator details are being confirmed and will be added here.
For privacy questions or requests, email the contact address on this page (being confirmed).

When you visit this website
The website and the episode files are hosted on the network of Cloudflare, Inc. When your browser or podcast app requests a page, the feed or a media file, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the address requested, date and time, the type of browser or app (user agent) and the referring page. This is necessary to deliver the content and to keep the service secure and protected against abuse. Cloudflare acts as our service provider and may process this data outside your country, including in the United States.
Our own technical logs of these requests are used only for troubleshooting and security and are deleted automatically after a few days.
We do not use analytics, advertising, social media pixels, fingerprinting or tracking cookies. Fonts, images, scripts and media are served from our own domain, so viewing a page does not send data to other companies. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure website that you asked to see (GDPR Article 6(1)(f) and the corresponding basis under Thailand's PDPA).
Your consent choice
If you save your cookie settings, or tick “Remember my choice” on a video, your browser keeps that choice in local storage under the name jjd-consent, together with the time you made it. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. It expires after 12 months, after which we ask again. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
YouTube videos
Some episode pages offer the video in YouTube's player. It never loads automatically: until you click “Load YouTube player”, or have allowed external media before, the page shows only a preview image from our own domain and makes no request to YouTube.
When you load the player, your browser connects to YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. Google then receives data such as your IP address, the page you are on and information about your browser and device, and may set cookies or use similar technologies, especially when you play the video or are signed in to a Google account. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which reduces but does not prevent this processing. Google may transfer data to the United States and other countries and states that it relies on safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See Google's privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a) and the PDPA), which you can withdraw at any time in the cookie settings. If you prefer not to use YouTube, choose “Play here instead” to watch the copy hosted on our own domain.
Podcast apps and directories
Our podcast feed and episode files are public. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and other podcast apps and directories fetch the feed and audio from our domain, and when you listen in an app, the app usually downloads the audio from our domain on your behalf. Those requests are handled as described above. The apps and platforms you choose process data under their own privacy policies, which apply when you use them.
Links to other websites
Pages link to other websites, for example podcast platforms or sources mentioned in an episode. Their own policies apply once you follow a link. Your browser tells the other site only that you came from our domain, not which page you were reading.
Contacting us by email
If you email us, we use your email address, your message and any details you include to reply and to handle your request. We keep the correspondence as long as needed for that purpose and then delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Emails are processed by our email provider. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you asked us to take.
Hosts, guests and people in episodes
Episodes, episode pages and our social media posts contain the names, voices, images and statements of the hosts and of guests who agreed to take part. Photos of hosts and guests are published only with permission. If you appeared in an episode and want something corrected or removed, please contact us.
AI-assisted processing of recordings
To publish an episode, we process the recording and its transcript with service providers that run AI models: Cloudflare Workers AI (speech recognition and language models on Cloudflare's network) and language model providers accessed through OpenRouter. They help us produce transcripts, chapters, summaries and social media posts, which are checked against the transcript. We configure these services so that providers do not use the material to train models and do not retain it after processing. This concerns the content of episodes, not data about visitors to this website.
How long data is kept
- Technical request logs: deleted automatically after a few days.
- Your consent choice: in your browser for up to 12 months.
- Emails: as long as needed to handle your request.
- Episode content: as long as the episode is published. Working files such as recordings and transcripts are kept as long as needed to produce and maintain the episode.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. Under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and, for visitors in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), these include the right to:
- access your data and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict processing or object to it, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before;
- complain to a supervisory authority: in Thailand the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), in the EU the data protection authority where you live or work.
To exercise your rights, email the contact address on this page (being confirmed). We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
